Resisting Temptation~

When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of all he created~James 1:13-18

On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation”~Luke 22:40

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one~Matthew 6:13

When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time~Luke 4:13

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it~1 Corinthians 10:13

Do not let your heart turn to her ways or stray into her paths. Many are the victims she has brought down; her slain are a mighty throng~Proverbs 7:25-26

What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You want something but don’t get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God~James 4:1-4
